Loader matching tips

  • Fabric — most performance mods need Fabric API. Iris also needs Sodium.
  • Quilt — use Quilted Fabric API instead of Fabric API for many Fabric mods.
  • Forge / NeoForge — pick jars built for that loader; Forge and NeoForge builds are not interchangeable.
  • Versions — every mod must match your Minecraft version. Mixing 1.20.1 and 1.21 jars usually fails on launch.

Catch loader mismatches early

A Fabric mod on a Forge server will not load. Mixing versions across a pack causes cryptic crashes on join. Paste a mod list or jar names, set loader and Minecraft version, and review matches, warnings, and missing dependencies.

Jar names are normalized so version suffixes still resolve when possible. Export a report for your pack maintainers or Discord bug channel.

APIs and shared libraries

Fabric API, Forge, and other libraries are required by large parts of the mod ecosystem. The matcher flags when a common dependency is missing instead of silently pretending the pack is fine.

Use the guidance panel for loader tips and links toward trusted download sites for your exact game version. Always download mods yourself from sources you trust.

Server and client packs

Dedicated servers need the server-side mods and libraries; clients need the full visual pack. After fixing mismatches, boot once in a test instance and join with a clean profile before you publish the pack to players.

When you update Minecraft version, run the list through the matcher again — many mods lag a release behind.

No. It is a fast compatibility pass. Always download mods from trusted sources for your exact game version.
What should I paste?
Paste jar file names or a mod list export, one per line. Include library mods such as Fabric API when they are part of the pack.
Why is a mod still unknown?
Unknown means it is not in the known list or the name could not be matched. Confirm that mod on its official page for your loader and version.
